Partnership Between Quova and F5 Expands; Customers Gain Enhanced Geo-Intelligence Capabilities via Deeper Data Granularity and Location Service Centralization

Mountain View, CA – June 29, 2010 – Quova, Inc., the leading provider of IP high quality Geolocation data, today announced the availability of its Premium Data to F5 Networks customers. This expanded ‘geo-intelligence’ includes geographic specificity to the city level and network information like the connection routing type, and is available on all BIG-IP systems version 10.1 and higher.

“Our data allows F5’s BIG-IP to extend the geo-context at the application networking control layer – no one else does this,” said Marie Alexander, CEO, Quova. “Together, Quova and F5 empower our customers to make better decisions by allowing them greater visibility into how their users are connected and routed on the Internet.”

“In November of 2009, F5 transformed the Application Delivery Networking marketplace by embedding Quova’s Basic Data as a standard feature of the F5 BIG-IP system,” said Jason Needham, Sr. Director, Product Management, F5 Networks. “And we’re taking it one step further by making Premium Data available to our install base. Now, F5 customers can make increasingly intelligent networking decisions based on user and service location—whether selecting the right data center or set of servers to optimize performance, or for layering granular access control policies to safeguard corporate data. This level of location-based control is unique to F5, and provides real value that our competitors can’t match.”

More Data Fields

Quova Premium Data on F5 BIG-IP is available weekly and includes eleven fields such as city, time zone and routing type. The Basic Data is available monthly, and includes five fields enabling location context to be incorporated into F5 products down to State level. Quova data allows businesses to localize web content, target local ad insertion, prevent fraud, and handle territory rights management, tracking customers, and conduct statistical reporting.

IP Geolocation

IP geolocation is technology that allows physical location information to be extrapolated from an end-user’s IP address. Quova’s technology maps IP addresses and related data to geographic locations at various levels of granularity. F5 solutions will continue to provide data to aid in identifying the carrier or Internet service provider of an IP address.

Through BIG-IP, Quova geolocation data can be applied during any stage of the application delivery lifecycle; from the first request to securing the connection, to delivering an optimized end-user experience.
